Its identity is as complex and romanticised as the setting in which it was forged: a mainland spanning areas of unique geological and historical significance, a rugged coastline that runs for over 11,000 miles, and 900 islands.

This series of photographs, which have appeared in publications including The New York Times and National Geographic, celebrates and interrogates the ways in which Scotland’s past is mapped onto its landscape and continues to be reinterpreted for new generations.
