Every summer, a group of athletes, musicians and dancers travel Scotland competing in the traditional Highland games. Historically these events were to draw clans together in a peaceful show of skill and strength.

Pierre de Coubertin, the founder of the modern Olympics, was inspired by a show of Highland games at the Paris Expo in 1889 which influenced the design of the mulit-sport event in Athens in 1896, the Games of the I Olympiad, and included similar disciplines (Athletics, cycling, weightlfting and wrestling).
